Job Overview
The Software Engineer is part of the design and fulfillment team that delivers Northern Reliability engineered solutions. The position works with the project manager, controls engineer and client to support control, data collection, and visualization aspects of the project.
Work is primarily based out of our Waterbury, Vermont office. However, during system construction and integration, you will be required to travel outside of the office environment and help assemble or troubleshoot a system in the field.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Write PLC (and other) programs based upon control specifications to allow for reliable and safe operation

Remotely diagnose faults utilizing historical and real time data

Write operation and maintenance manuals for new products

Perform customer acceptance testing and training

Provide technical assistance (remotely or on site) for existing and future systems
Reports To
The position will report to the Director of Engineering.
Qualifications
Candidate should be familiar with Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interface devices, and embedded RTUs.
The ideal candidate will possess the following (KSAs) knowledge skills and abilities:

General understanding of renewable energy including AC and DC circuits

Experience with PLC programming, Allen Bradley Connected Components Workbench programming suite desirable

Familiarity with programming concepts including the following languages HTML, Python, JavaScript and Linux based operating systems

Familiarity with MySQL or other databases

General knowledge of communication and networking protocols including Ethernet, Modbus and CAN bus.

Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics

Familiarity with office productivity software, including MS Word, Excel & Power Point
-
Team player, with a desire and willingness to learn
Physical Requirements

Able to lift and carry 25lbs, crawl, or climb.
